Bob Hogg

Robert (Bob) Hogg began officiating high school basketball games in the late 1950’s. He officiated games at all levels in multiple sports for over 50 years, calling his last game in 2014 at the age of 80. His longevity, devotion and contribution to the student athletes and the sports they played are unsurpassed. His reputation as an official who displayed impeccable integrity along with solid rule knowledge, mechanics, and game management, was recognized by athletes, coaches, and spectators throughout Idaho.

Bob has always been generous with his time and shared his experience and skill to help others succeed. Bob took immense pride in his performance on and off the court. He is highly respected for his willingness to serve and help other officials become the best they could be and was particularly skilled in unifying an officiating crew.

During his career he officiated numerous district tournament games, playoff games, and one state championship football game. He arranged officials for the year end Junior High School basketball tournament held in Huntington, Oregon, for over thirty years.

In addition to high school games, he officiated both men’s and women’s games at Treasure Valley Community College, College of Idaho, Eastern Oregon University, College of Southern Idaho, and Northwest Nazarene College.

All these accomplishments, however, pale in comparison to the impact he had on the kids who played the games and the officials he mentored. Bob Hogg clearly demonstrates the generosity, respect and concern for others that is the very definition of a true sportsmen. For over fifty years his honesty, integrity, leadership, and personal responsibility advanced the mission of the IHSAA throughout the State of Idaho.
